Christmas Spirit Come See Me Please!

SantaSo much of the US is getting hit with their first major snow storm. Kansas City was supposed to get some of that beautiful fluffy white stuff last night, but it didn’t arrive as promised. Instead we are having icy sleet this morning.

I was so hoping for snow so it would jolt me into the Christmas spirit, which has been a bit at bay for me. Perhaps because we have been knee deep in orders making gift bags and napkins. Maybe because I have yet to get my Christmas tree out of storage, where it is WAY behind all of my daughter’s belongings from when she moved back in this summer. Or perhaps it’s because I haven’t taken time to sit still and let the Christmas spirit sink into my soul.

So this morning I went browsing through last year’s Christmas photos hoping that would help me find the spirit. And I think it worked! I’m ready to dig through the mountain of stuff to get to my tree and find my ornaments and other decorations. With the cold weather I’m ready to bake a few batches of cookies and fix hot cocoa. When the sleet stops, I’m ready to don my winter coat and gloves along with my garden snippers to venture into the cold to snip some red berries and holly branches for lining the mantle.

So today the Christmas CDs get loaded into the CD player and turned out, the oven will be hot and pumping out heavenly smelling pieces of deliciousness while I sing my favorite Christmas songs.

What things do you do to get into the Christmas spirit? Share with me your secrets.
