Freda, the mother of the Creative Chic duo, is the mother of 5 children, 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She has more hobbies than time but especially loves sewing these days.
A real weak spot for dishes, Freda collects all types of bargain dinnerware which you will frequently see in the Tablescape articles. She finds herself giving away many dishes just so she can furnish her kitchen with her latest, greatest find.
The neighbors have heard her belting out tunes as she sings along with Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Elvis and Frank Sinatra while working away in her sewing room. Although she likes to keep late nights like a young teenager, she knows how to keep the noise down after 10 p.m. and finds this the best time for a little late night chocolate snack and a good movie or ball game.
Recently retired, Freda moved to a small two bedroom apartment. We’ve always said she needed to move every 5 years just so she would have a new place to decorate. And indeed it is exquisitely decorated in a French Country style that is casual elegant and perfect for her lifestyle.
As part of retirement living, Freda now finds time and enjoyment in helping her daughter plant flower pots, a lot smaller and easier to take care of than her once expansive gardens.
She lives on the 3rd floor of her apartment complex with a view of a nature park outside her window. Although she is a bird watcher, she has been known to mistake a swiftly moving squirrel for our feathered friends a few times.
Freda is also quite the cook, but she has a few perfected dishes up her sleeve like Homemade Potato Salad (without mustard thank you) and a cauliflower, bacon and lettuce salad that will have you begging for more.
